“Victim of Crime Beyond 2015”, a Conference organised by Victim Support Europe at the European Parliament, 18 November 2014

Victim Support Europe, an umbrella organisation of 37 national and regional victim support organisations from 25 countries, organized on November 18th a conference in the European Parliament to raise awareness about the importance of a correct implementation of the Directive establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims of crime by November 2015.
The purpose of the event was also to present the Victim Support Europe’s strategy 2014-2019 to newly elected Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).

The event was hosted by Ana Gomes, a MEP member of the Liberties, Justice and Home affairs Committee. Two others MEPs, Claude Moreas, Chair of the Liberties, Justice and Home affairs Committee and Iratxe García Pérez, Chair of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, contributed to the discussion. Olivier Tell, Head of unit “Procedural criminal Law” (DG Just - European Commission) and Representatives of the Italian EU Presidency and of the upcoming Latvian EU Presidency were also among the speakers.
